Our Story
At The Measuring Cup, we believe food and the art of cooking, baking and entertaining brings us together as family, friends and community. Owners, Jan and Steve Osterkamp, opened the store in 2011 to share their love of food and cooking. At that point, they already had a decade of experience in retail with their other store, Monarch Gift Shop, located down the street. They were excited to use all they had learned over the years to open The Measuring Cup with a goal of having unique products and a focus on quality. They travel to the best shows in the country to hand pick products and brands that live up to that standard. Through the years, The Measuring Cup has continued and grown as a family-run business. Daughter, Amy Peterson, manages the store and you will likely see her smiling face if you stop in...she loves to help customers find the perfect cooking tools or gifts. You will also find their other daughter, Gina Brodtmann, managing inventory and websites behind the scenes. Amy's husband, Duane, can be found changing light bulbs or demonstrating the latest kitchen gadgets in the store. Family and connection are a huge part of our vibe and values as we work together, alongside our incredible staff and wonderful customers to create something of the highest quality for our community. We want to be a place of knowledge and expertise for our customers and so we make a point of doing extensive training with our staff so that they are ready to help you find solutions to your cooking and baking questions. Whether you are a professional chef or just starting in the art of cooking, our big city selection paired with our small town service will help you to make cooking a joy. Speaking of joy...we are always cooking up a variety of year-round special events, including product demonstrations, sampling, and more. We encourage people to stop in often and see what’s new.
